Assistant Manager Kids Programs

Position Overview

Zen Mixed Martial Arts is seeking a part-time Assistant Manager to support the delivery and supervision of our Kids Programs. This role works directly with the Manager of Kids Programs to help oversee the daily operation of our after-school program and seasonal camps.


The Assistant Manager helps lead staff, supervise children, and ensure that all programs are delivered in a safe, structured, and positive environment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, has strong leadership skills, and is passionate about youth development through fitness and recreation.


The working schedule is as follows:


After-School Program (Late August – End of June)


  • 3–5 days per week
  • Monday to Friday 
  • 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
     

Summer Camp (July – August)


  • Friday's during the first six weeks of camp
  • Full-time Monday to Friday during weeks 7 and 8
     

March Break (March)


  • Monday to Friday
  • 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the daily operation of the Kids Programs.
  • Help lead games, recreational activities and other activities for children.
  • Ensure activities are structured, engaging, and age-appropriate.
  • Help maintain a positive, respectful, and disciplined environment for participants.
  • Support the Manager of Kids Programs in supervising instructors and counselors.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Assist with daily program schedules and activity coordination.
     
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
  • Maintain appropriate supervision of children at all times.
  • Follow all safety procedures and facility policies.
     
  • Maintain positive communication with parents and guardians.
  • Represent Zen Mixed Martial Arts in a professional and welcoming manner.
     
  • Assist in planning and delivering March Break and Summer Camp programming.
  • Help supervise staff and participants during camp activities.

We're looking for someone with the following qualifications:


  • Experience working with children in a recreational, educational, sports, or youth program environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and support program staff, instructors, and counselors.
  • Ability to lead groups of children in a structured, safe, and engaging environment.
  • Ability to work independently while also supporting the Manager of Kids Programs in program operations.
  • Reliable, professional, and positive attitude.
  • Previous staff leadership or supervisory experience.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
